Lady Ospreys win again

UNF won its fourth straight match

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's tennis team added another win to its perfect home record and Atlantic Sun Conference record Friday with a 5-2 decision against Florida Gulf Coast at the UNF Tennis Complex.
"Our doubles effort was good today, and this win is good for us in helping keep our confidence high," UNF head coach Rodrigo Puebla said.
UNF (7-2, 2-0 A-Sun) captured the doubles point with wins at all three doubles positions, led by an 8-2 finish at No. 2 and an 8-3 score at the leading spot. Freshman Aline Berkenbrock and junior Raquel Castro gathered the win at the top position, and nationally-ranked sophomore duo Lauren Holton and Victoria Krook nabbed an 8-4 win at No. 3.
Castro sailed to a 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 2 singles position while Holton finished her No. 5 singles match without dropping a single game. Krook was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at the No. 6 individual slot.
FGCU (1-7, 0-2) picked up its two points at the first and third singles positions. Priscillia Villemond defeated Berkenbrock 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1, and Katherine Evans handed freshman Nikita van Lierop a 6-4, 6-4 loss at No. 3. Senior Ina Durcakova grabbed a straight-set win for the Lady Ospreys, playing in the fourth singles spot.
The Lady Ospreys have won four-straight matches and are 5-0 at home this season.
"We have gotten off to a good start in conference play, but we must continue to improve get better if we want to reach our goal of winning the conference," Puebla said. "Our match on Monday should give us a chance to keep raising our level of tennis."
UNF will step out of league play to host Tennessee-Martin at 2 p.m. Monday.
