UNF hosts Mercer in the first round of the A-Sun Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 6 p.m., at Hodges Stadium
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's soccer team (4-11-1, 4-4-1 Atlantic Sun) will host an opening quarterfinal round match of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 6 p.m., as the Ospreys welcome Mercer (5-10-2, 4-5-0 A-Sun) to Hodges Stadium.
The match is $5 for adults and $3 for students (with valid ID), senior citizens (ages 65 and up) and children (ages 17 and under). The first 300 UNF students with a valid ID are FREE.
The Ospreys enter the event after defeating Mercer on the road to advance to the tournament. UNF defeated the Bears, 2-1, on Saturday, Oct. 31, to host a first-round match. UNF is 2-2-1 all-time against the Bears. The match is the first postseason appearance for the Ospreys since going through a four-year reclassification period to Division I.
North Florida is the No. 4 seed in the six-team A-Sun Tournament, while Mercer is the No. 5 seed. The winner of the match advances to the semifinals in Buies Creek, N.C., to take on the top-seed Campbell Camels. The Ospreys, who are 2-3-1 all-time against the Camels, dropped a 3-1 decision to Campbell earlier in the year on Thursday, Oct. 29, in Buies Creek.
