UNF will take part in Seminole Tri-Tournament
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida women's volleyball team will try to continue its progression this weekend when it heads to Tallahassee, Fla., for the Seminole Tri-Tournament, hosted by Florida State.
UNF will begin the tournament with a 7 p.m. match against FSU on Friday and will cap it off with a 3 p.m. contest against South Dakota State on Saturday.
The Lady Ospreys capped off last weekend on a positive swing, picking up a thrilling 3-2 (20-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-16, 15-8) win over Bethune-Cookman to move UNF's record to 1-2. The Lady Ospreys started off the FAU Invitational last Friday with a tough 3-0 loss to potential Top 25 team Northern Iowa and followed it up with a neck-and-neck 3-1 loss to Florida Atlantic on Saturday.
Florida State is coming off a perfect weekend at its own FSU Invitational, where the Seminoles went 3-0 against Florida A&M, Stetson and Bowling Green. FSU currently leads the ACC in team hitting percentage (.392) and service aces (2.40/set) and is second for assists (13.73/set), kills (14.91/set) and blocks (2.60/set).
South Dakota State opened its season 1-2 at the Blue Raider Bash last weekend, with a win over Southeast Missouri State and losses to Idaho and No. 15 Middle Tennessee State. Mackenzie Angner led the Jackrabbits in kills in all three matches and despite struggling with her hitting percentage, earned a spot on the Blue Raider Bash all-tournament team.

She was also second on the team with a .263 hitting percentage and tied for second in service aces with four. It was Read's second career all-tournament selection, with her other one coming last year at the UCF Invitational.
Notables: The Lady Ospreys are 0-2 all-time in Tallahassee … UNF has put up more assists than its opponent in two of three matches … FSU is the first in-state power conference team the Lady Ospreys have ever faced and are 1-1 against in-state schools this season … SDSU defeated UNF 3-0 (21-30, 28-30, 24-30) in 2006 in the teams' only meeting … both schools were transitional Division I institutions at the time, but the Jackrabbits are now in their first season of full reclassification … both senior Bary Rasmussen and junior Agata Dawidowicz have recorded double-digit kills in two-straight matches … UNF is averaging 12.5 aces per match over the last two matches.
