Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida men's tennis team capped an action-packed weekend conference schedule with a third consecutive win on Sunday afternoon, this time a 7-0 blanking of Gardner-Webb at the UNF Tennis Complex.

The Ospreys (7-3, 3-0 A-Sun) knocked off Lipscomb on Friday, Belmont on Saturday and then GWU (3-6, 1- 2 A-Sun) -- all by 7-0 scores. Their toughest test of the weekend came on Sunday, however.

UNF's Eduardo Pereira was forced to three sets at No. 1 singles, only the second time this spring the senior has not won a match in straight sets. He knocked off GWU's Evgeny Slesarev 6-3, 5-7, 6-1 in the toughest singles matchup of the afternoon. UNF's Yuiti Lopes was also pushed hard at No. 3 singles, where he eventually bested Rafael Altmayer 6-4, 7-6 (9). Javier Ferrin (No. 2), Graham Edgar (No. 4), Kurt Gattiker (No. 5) and Adrian Escarate (No. 6) also posted singles victories for the Ospreys.

GWU's only victory of the day came at No. 1 doubles, where the tandem of Slesarev and Carlos Quijano outlasted UNF's Lopes and Alejandro Argumedo 8-3. UNF won at the other two doubles positions, however, to take the doubles point and an early 1-0 lead.

Pereira has now won 11 consecutive singles matches, while Edgar, Escarate and Ferrin have won five straight. Gattiker and Pereira also have the team's best streak on the doubles ledger, having won six straight matches.

"The team accomplished the short-term goal that it set for this weekend," UNF head coach Igal Buberman said. "We are really excited about the regular-season conference competition, and we are looking forward to playing Stetson this week. We know it will test our abilities even further, but our team will make sure it steps its level of play up a notch."

The Ospreys will return to action on Thursday when they travel to DeLand to face A-Sun foe Stetson. Match time is set for noon.
