Ospreys try to feast on Bucs Friday

The University of North Florida men's basketball team is back on the road Friday night when it travels to Charleston, S.C., for a 7:30 p.m. contest with Charleston Southern.

UNF (0-4) will head out looking to bring back its first win of the season after dropping four-straight games to start the year. The Ospreys took an injury-riddled squad to Provo, Utah, last week where the team showed steady improvement, but could not come away with a win against BYU, Cal-Poly or Rice.

Cortez Riley led the team in Utah, averaging 9.7 points per contest, while Riley, Matt Sauey, Zach Riggins and Stan Januska were among the tournament leaders in rebounds.

Charleston Southern (2-3) is coming off an 84-80 loss against the Citadel. Omar Carter and Jamarco Warren scored 20 and 25, respectively, but it was not enough for CSU.

Who's Hot: Senior point guard Cortez Riley led the Ospreys with 16 points against Savannah State, and 12 points in the team's last outing against Rice ... Stan Januska scored a season-high 14 points against Cal-Poly ... freshman Cameron Lovelace is sixth in the A-Sun with nine 3-point baskets this season.

Who's Not: UNF scored only 12 points, its lowest ever point total in one half to open the BYU contest Thursday night and only scored 14 points in the opening half against Cal-Poly ... the Ospreys are last in the A-Sun, averaging 47.2 points a game.

Gameday Notables: UNF coach Matt Kilcullen joggled the starting lineup in UNF's last contest, inserting three freshmen into the opening five … Cameron Lovelace made his third-straight start for the Ospreys, while Matt Sauey and Zack Riggins got their first start in the Osprey blue and grey … members of the 2008-09 Osprey squad will get plenty of use out of their travel bags this season, playing 18 games away from the friendly confines of UNF Arena.
