UNF visits Lipscomb on Sunday at 2 p.m.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The University of North Florida women's soccer team suffered its third straight loss in Atlantic Sun Conference play on Friday night when Belmont netted three goals and used an own goal by the Lady Ospreys to walk away with a 4-0 win.
UNF (6-10-1, 3-5-0 A-Sun) matched the Bruins' performance on paper, totaling 10 shots compared to 13 by Belmont (10-6-1, 5-3-1), and winning the corner kick battle, 5-2. However, UNF managed just four shots on goal while the Bruins fired eight at the frame.
Belmont started its scoring a little more than eight minutes into the match when Annie Musacchio scored an unassisted goal. A little less than five minutes before the break, a mix-up among UNF players resulted in a poor pass and an own goal, pushing the Belmont lead to 2-0.
With only 35 seconds remaining in the first period, the home team upped its lead to three goals when Charlotte Blake found the back of the net. Musacchio capped the night's scoring in the 77th minute when she split the posts for the second time in the match.
The Lady Ospreys take the field only two more times this season, beginning with a 2 p.m. match at Lipscomb on Sunday. The season comes to a close at Jacksonville in a SunTrust River City Rumble match on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m.
