TALLAHSSEE, Fla. - Day one of the FSU Relays came to a close for the University of North Florida Ospreys, with solid results. The women's side competed in the heptathlon and the 5000m run, while the men's side took part in the men's 5000m run.
Anne DelBovo participated in four heptathlon events, racking up a total of 2197 points. DelBovo's best individual placing came in event No. 4, the 200m dash, where she finished in seventh place with a time of 27.48.
Despite being the only Lady Osprey to compete in the 5000m run, Lauren Vogel made sure everyone noticed her. Vogel finished the race in second place with a time of 20:16.41, beating out three members of host FSU.
Vogel wasn't the only one making sure people took notice. Freshman Sammy Palmer took charge in the men's 5000m run, finishing in the top spot with a time of 15:45.08. That was Palmer's first time competing in the outdoor 5000m. Junior Jeff Auletta finished right behind Palmer, taking second place with a time of 16:10.38, which is a new career best. Vince Corlew and Ryan Austin both competed in the 5000m run for the first time this season, taking fourth (16:45.03) and fifth (16:46.28) place, respectively.
The Ospreys return to action Friday with events beginning at 2 p.m.
