
Offense powers UNF win

TEMPE , Ariz. - The University
of North Florida offense carried the load in the team's
opening game of the Sun Devil/Wilson DeMarini
Invitational, hammering out 12 hits in an 8-4 win
against Utah Valley State at Farrington Stadium.
Lauren Pulling put together a 3-for-3 performance,
while Kelli Rutenbar, Gwen Williams and Elizabeth Howell each had a pair of hits to help UNF overcome
a pair of two-run deficits.
The Wolverines (3-6) took a 4-2 lead in the top of the
fourth before UNF (7-7) answered with a pair of runs
in the bottom of the inning and finally blew the game
open with four runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Heather Hyde started the scoring in the third with an
RBI single that scored Rutenbar. Williams tied the
game one batter later, scoring on an Ashley Parenteau RBI groundout.
Williams helped start the rally in the sixth inning with a
single, before coming around to score the go-ahead
run on a Howell single. UNF added three runs to its
total with Pulling capping the inning with an RBI
single, her third hit of the game.
Devyn Findley (3-1) earned the win for the Lady
Ospreys, throwing five innings. She allowed two
earned runs, while giving up four hits and striking out
four.
Corie Jensen led the Wolverines with a pair of hits.
UNF will take on Arizona State on Friday night before
playing UC Santa Barbara and taking on Arizona State
for a second time on Saturday.
