ORLANDO, Fla. - The
University of North Florida softball team fell to UCF on
Tuesday night 1-0 at the UCF Softball Complex
dropping the rubber match between the teams this
season.
UNF (6-7) could only muster a pair of hits in the loss
and failed to take advantage of three UCF (11-7)
errors.
This was the third meeting between the schools this
year with UCF winning the first meeting before UNF
took the second game. Both of the previous contests
were played at the FAU Miken Invitational.
For the second-straight outing UNF pitcher Katie
Brosky was the victim of a 1-0 loss. She took a shutout
into the bottom of the sixth inning before Amber Lamb
finally cracked the scoreboard with an RBI double to
right-center that drove home Kaycee Feaster with the
game-winning run.
Brosky (3-3) allowed six hits in the effort, while striking
out five and not walking a batter.
UNF's best chance to score came in the top of the fifth
inning when three UCF errors loaded the bases with
one out. Ashleigh Cole (4-3) came on from there to
work her team out of the jam and keep the game
scoreless.
Kelli Rutenbar and Heather Hyde each had a hit for
UNF.
The Lady Ospreys return to action this weekend when
they travel to Arizona State for the Sun Devil/Wilson
DeMarini Invitational. Games begin Friday when UNF
takes on Utah Valley State and Creighton.
