
Indoor track concludes Diet Pepsi Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla.- The University of North Florida men's and women's indoor track teams concluded its second trip to Gainesville, Fla., on Saturday after participating in the Diet Pepsi Invitational.
There was a thin team in attendance for the men's side, with only four runners participating, however not all was lost for the Ospreys. Fredrick Johansson had the best individual placing for the Ospreys taking 19th place in the mile finishing just under four and a half minutes (4:22.46). Teammates Jimmy Fitzpatrick and Chris Fulcher weren't far behind taking 31st (4:30.41) and 34th (4:32.43). Junior Marvin Moore rounded out the men's roster, taking 26th place in the 800m race with an overall time of 2:02.07.
The women's squad finished strong as a team with both the 4x400 and distance medley race teams finishing in the top-10. The distance medley team, which consisted of Hillarry Adams, Lindsay Tafs, Golden Creavy and Amanda Davey, finished in fifth place with a time of 12:36.39.
Amy Stroder, Emily Kohler, Evelyn Moore and Karissa Sullivan made up the 4x400 team finishing the race in 10th place with a time of 4:05.50. Stroder also participated in the high jump finishing in fifth place jumping 1.68m. Kohler kept herself busy competing in the high jump and the long jump on top of the 4x4. Kohler took 10th place in the high jump and 15th in the long jump. Elise Trexler finished the high jump in 11th place (1.58m)
Sarah Coghlan set a new career best in the indoor 3000m running the race in 10:22.07, taking 13th place. Coghlan's time is almost twenty seconds faster than in the Florida Collegiate held Jan. 13. Evelyn Moore took part in the 800m run finishing in 21st place with a time of 2:24.62.
Senior Amber Smith competed in the mile for the second time this indoor season, finishing in 28th place after crossing the finish line in 5:28.68. Freshman Charisma Anderson ran in the 200m dash for the first time in her collegiate career finishing in 35th place with a time of 26.82. Karissa Sullivan and Anne DelBovo finished 44th (27.50) and 46th (27.88) respectively. DelBovo partook in the long jump jumping 4.52 taking 29th place.
The Ospreys return to the track Feb. 9 for the Tiger Invitational.
