JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2006 season versus Louisiana-Lafayette, falling to the Ragin' Cajuns 1-0.
The only goal of the game was scored in the 24th minute when a costly UNF foul gave Stephanie Lynch a free kick from the top of the box.
Despite out-shooting the Ragin' Cajuns 12-7, the Lady Ospreys were unable to capitalize on any scoring opportunities. Seven of UNF's shots were on goal, giving UL Lafayette's goalkeeper Stephanie Weston as many saves.
"We came out and played like we hadn't played in 10 days, which we hadn't," stated head coach Mike Munch. "The second half we looked better, but the flat first half costs us. After giving up the goal, we ended up chasing the game."
UNF hits the road this weekend, competing in the South Alabama Tournament in Mobile, Ala. The Lady Ospreys face South Alabama on Friday at 7 p.m. and Nicholls State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
