Jacksonville, Fla. - The UNF women's soccer team captured their second victory of the 2006 season with a 2-1 win over the Georgia Southern Eagles on Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles struck early, scoring in the second minute of the game. Michelle Carlson's free kick from a North Florida foul found Ashley Toussaint in the box for the Eagles' only goal of the game.
"When you're down early, you have to remember to go with the game plan," said head coach Mike Munch. "We had lots of time to get it back."
After several shot attempts by the Lady Ospreys, Elizabeth Gowan scored the equalizer in the 28th minute to bring UNF back into the game.
In the 39th minute of play, the Lady Ospreys pulled ahead off a header by Lisa Taylor. She was assisted by Jessica Jowers.
The second half was physical on both sides with 17 total fouls. Neither team allowed a goal to be scored in the half.
"Every game is going to be hard fought and physical," stated Munch.
The Lady Ospreys return to the UNF Soccer Stadium on Sept. 5 when they host Louisiana-Lafayette at 12 p.m.
