JACKSONVILLE Fla. - The University of North Florida women's soccer team opened its 2006 season with a 4-0 victory over the Flagler Saints on Friday evening at Patton Park.
Courtney Forson netted the Lady Ospreys' first and only goal of the first half in the 36th minute off a header from a corner kick by Lena Mullaney.
UNF dominated the second half of play with three more goals. Lauren Dwyer produced her first goal of her collegiate career in the 68th minute, while Katelin Swift scored her first collegiate goal in the 71st minute. Both goals were unassisted.
The Lady Ospreys' final goal of the game came in the 74th minute off a header by Courteney Strickland from a corner kick by Jessica Jowers.
Heather Gosselin played the entire match in between the post to collect her first shutout of the season.
UNF will be back in action on Sunday at 2 p.m. when they play host to Georgia Southern at Patton Park.
