Ospreys top Belmont, 6-3

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - North Florida extended its winning streak to seven games with a 6-3 win over Belmont on Saturday afternoon. The Ospreys and Bruins were scheduled to play a doubleheader, but inclement weather caused the second game to be postponed till tomorrow at 2 p.m. EST with game three of the series to follow 30-minutes afterwards.

Jeremy Papelbon worked 4.1 innings and struck out seven Bruins' batters before being knocked out of the game when Matt Reynolds hit a line drive off of his left shin. Senior Jared Incinelli relieved Papelbon and tossed 1.2 innings before turning things over to Jacob Dixon (3-4) who worked 1.2 innings and recorded two strike outs to earn the win. Josh Papelbon recorded the final four outs of the game to earn his eighth save of the season.

Jimmy Glanville, Jonathan Hodach and Brennan Grogan led the Ospreys' offense with two hits each. UNF had 11 hits in the game and recorded double-digit hits for the 24th time this season.

The Ospreys started the scoring with three runs in the top of the fourth inning. Hodach plated Grogan with an RBI single to right center and Chad Knight extended his hitting streak to nine games with a two- run single to left center field.

Matt Oxendine belted a two-run home run over the left field wall in the fifth inning to give the Ospreys a 5-0 lead. The Bruins got on the board in the bottom of the inning as Aaron Lautman scored on a wild pitch by Incinelli and added another run on a RBI single by Carlo Testa in the sixth.

Belmont continued its trend in the seventh inning scoring an additional run on a sacrifice fly by Ben Petsch to make the score 5-3. UNF added an insurance run in the eighth inning on a pinch hit RBI single by Travis Martin.

Southpaw Brad Johnson (6-1) will toe the rubber for UNF in the first game of tomorrow's doubleheader and Ryan Amason (5-5) will get the starting assignment in the nightcap. The Bruins will counter with Josh Moffitt (4-3) in game one and left-hander Carlo Testa (2-5) will take the mound in the final game of the series.
