
Lady Ospreys blank KSU

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The North Florida women's tennis team is making quick work of the Atlantic Sun Conference these days.
The Lady Ospreys won for the fourth consecutive time in A-Sun play on Sunday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex, upending fellow conference newcomer Kennesaw State 7-0. The win was UNF's fifth consecutive and seventh in eight matches after a 2-4 start.
Against KSU (2-5, 0-3 A-Sun), the Lady Ospreys (9- 5, 4-1 A-Sun) swept doubles play, getting easy victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. The UNF tandem of Catalina Castillo and Florencia Torres had the toughest doubles task of the day, upending KSU's Paula Takara and Giselle Nakakura, 8-6.
From there, UNF took control in singles play - winning all six matches in straight sets for second straight match. Vanessa Sanchez (No. 1), Castillo (No. 2), Torres (No. 3), Katja Brandt (No. 4), Lauren Cockbill (No. 5) and Carolina de Melo (No. 6) all posted quick victories for the Lady Ospreys.
UNF has now posted three shutouts in its last four matches.
The Lady Ospreys will return to action on Thursday when they wrap up A-Sun play against Belmont at the UNF Tennis Complex. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
