Final Stats

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 14, 2006) - Bethune-Cookman built a 13-1 lead over the first three innings of play on Tuesday night at Jackie Robinson Stadium and never looked back in a 17-5 victory over the University of North Florida.

BCC (10-14) pounded out 21 hits in all, 15 of which came in those first three innings. The loss for UNF (12-9) was only its second against a team from Florida this season, dropping the Ospreys' record to 6-2 against Florida schools.

Jonathan Hodach got the Ospreys on the board in the top of the second inning, lacing a double down the left field line that brought home James Belyea. That run answered an Alejandro Jimenez home run in the bottom of the first.

BCC countered with seven runs in the bottom of the second, chasing UNF starter Jacob Dixon after 1.1 innings of work. The outing was his shortest of the season. Six of those second inning runs were charged to Dixon, while Dicarlo Thompson gave up the other run. Dixon (1-4) gave up six hits and struck out one.

The Wildcats scored five more in the bottom of the third before Hodach drove home a run with his second double of the game and came around to score on an error by BCC catcher Jorge Mico.

UNF added a run in the top of the sixth on a Jon Dandridge double that brought home Grant Rogers before BCC scored four runs in the bottom of the frame. The Ospreys added one more in the ninth to complete the scoring.

Raphael Kyles (3-2) earned the win for BCC, throwing six complete innings while allowing nine hits and two earned runs. He struck out five and walked one in the win.

Chris Henault collected four hits and drove in five runs to lead the Wildcat offense.

Hodach, Belyea, Grogan, Glanville and Rogers all had two hits to lead the UNF offense.

UNF steps back into conference play this weekend when it travels to East Tennessee State for a three- game set, beginning with a doubleheader Saturday at 2 p.m.
