
Ospreys continue great season

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The University of North Florida men's and women's cross country teams showed their depth at the FSU Invitational held on Saturday. The women's team place third, beating out conference foe Jacksonville University. The men's team finished in seventh place, after several solid individual finishes.
Despite being without captain Sarah Coghlan and Amanda Davey, the Lady Ospreys had several runners finish big. Junior Kaitlyn Granger led the way for UNF, finishing in 16th place with a time of 19:31.73. The finish is Grangers highest of the season. Freshman Hillary Adams (19:36.07) and sophomore Kayley DeLorm (19:40.99) finished behind Granger in 17th and 18th place.
Senior Golden Creavy had a strong finish for the Lady Ospreys, finishing in 23rd place with an overall time of 19:49.56. Sophomore Wendy Livingston was the next runner to cross the finish line for UNF with a time of 19:56.88, earning her 26th place. Senior Amber Smith and junior Kelly Marshall also collected points for the Lady Ospreys, finishing 35th (20:19.63) and 37th (20:23.10), respectively.
The men's team was also missing some of its key runners, but was not led astray. Junior Dane Simmons took charge by finishing first for the Ospreys with a time of 27:31.04, earning 30th place. Sophomore Jeff Auletta was the next runner to cross the finish line for UNF, taking 38th place with an overall time of 27:42.98.
Freshman Jimmy Fitzpatrick (41st), Sammy Palmer (53rd), Craig Sinbine (58th) and Chris Fulcher (61st) all earned points for UNF. Senior Ryan Austin also earned the Ospreys points with his 45th place finish (27:57.63).
The Ospreys return to action next Saturday when they head to Greenville, S.C., to participate in the Furman Invitational.
