
UNF defeats GWU in overtime

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida women's soccer team secured its second Atlantic Sun Conference victory on Thursday, defeating Gardner-Webb 2-1 in overtime. Lauren Winn netted the game-winner for the Lady Ospreys with 22 seconds remaining in overtime.
The first half of play was evenly matched with both teams making five shots, and both goalies collecting three saves. Neither team put a mark on the board during the opening half.
UNF was the first to score in the match. Katelin Swift netted her sixth goal of the season in the 67th minute off a deflection by GWU's goalie, Sarah Wyszynski.
Lindsey Gladhill scored the equalizer for the Bulldogs at the 72:30 mark to tie the game. The score held, sending the game into overtime.
During the extra period, UNF dominated position of the ball with two shots and three corner kicks.
Rachael Howard finished with three saves for UNF, while Wyszynski finished with six for the Bulldogs.
The Lady Ospreys hosts Campbell on Saturday at 3 p.m. as they continue league play.
