JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida men's soccer team finished out Atlantic Sun Conference play on Sunday, tying Mercer 1-1. The Ospreys now hold a 4-10-2 record and finish league action with a 1-5-1 mark.
David Pollard netted the Ospreys' only goal of the game in the 16th minute. Martin Schuhte assisted on the goal.
With UNF leading 1-0 after the first half, the Bears knotted the game at one goal apiece only six and a half minutes into the second period. Omar Liendo scored the unassisted goal for Mercer.
Neither team was able to score again in regulation. A red card against Robert Adamson with 30 seconds remaining in the second half left the Bears down a man for the extra period.
Mats Elmsater was the only player to register a shot in the first overtime period. The Ospreys out-shot Mercer 3-1 in the second overtime but were unable to score leaving the game tied at one for a final.
Pollard tallied two shots on goal for UNF, while Elmsater, Schuhte and Mark Sergio each had one. Taylor Unsinger posted one save for UNF, while David Bird recorded four saves for the Bears.
The Ospreys travel to Durham, N.C., on Tuesday for a match up with Duke. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
