BOCA RATON, Fla. - The University of North Florida women's soccer team's welcome to the Atlantic Sun Conference was anything but friendly as the Lady Ospreys dropped their conference opener 4-0 to Florida Atlantic on Friday night at Game Field.

Entering Friday's match, the Lady Ospreys (2-2-1) had won their last five conference openers.

The Lady Ospreys managed just one shot during the match and failed to record a shot on goal. Freshman forward Elizabeth Gowan tallied the Lady Ospreys' lone shot, which came in the second half of play.

FAU senior forward Denise Brolly gave the Owls a 1-0 lead late in the first half when the Coatbridge, Scotland, native converted a penalty kick into her first goal of the season at the 44:41 mark of the match.

Brolly didn't wait long to add her second goal of the season. The senior turned a Susanna Lehtinen pass into a goal from 18 yards out to give FAU a 2-0 lead.

Redshirt-freshman Janeke Simpkins and senior Katri Nokso-Koivisto added goals at the 54:07 mark and the 59:37 mark of the match, respectively.

Freshman Rachael Howard tallied seven saves in goal for UNF, while surrendering all four goals. Howard split time with sophomore Heather Gosselin. Howard suffered the loss to fall to 2-2-1 on the season. Friday's match marked Gosselin's first action in goal for UNF this season after posting a 9-4-1 mark as the Lady Ospreys' starting goalkeeper in 2004.

The Owls (4-3-0) outshot the Lady Ospreys 15-1, including an 11-0 shots on goal margin.

Freshman goalkeeper Jessica Badders earned the win for FAU.

The Lady Ospreys will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to Tampa, Fla., to take on South Florida. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. ET.
