Ospreys force game 7

JACKSONVILE, Fla. - University of North Florida freshman pitcher Travis Martin pitched seven shutout innings against Kennesaw State University on Saturday to force a seventh and deciding game in the South Atlantic Regional.

Martin allowed three hits through six innings of play in the 8-3 victory before giving up four hits in the seventh. He survived that inning without giving up a run thanks to a UNF double play.

The Ospreys (44-15) got all the offense they needed in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring six runs. Marion Knowles led off the inning with a home run and UNF kept the offense going from there.

North Florida started the scoring in the bottom of the fourth with a run then added one more in the eighth.

Kennesaw State (37-21) scratched the scoreboard in the top of the eighth inning, touching Brooks West for three runs on four hits. Josh Papelbon came on to close out the eighth before retiring the side in order in the ninth.

Matt Eckardt (4-6) suffered the loss for the Owls.

Sadry Café led UNF with a 4-for-5 game at the plate that included two RBIs. Josh Howard followed him with three hits. Scott Hendrix Adrian Colton and Kevin Gergel each had a pair of hits for Kennesaw state.

The Osprey win sets up a final game in the South Atlantic Regional with the winner advancing to Montgomery, Ala., for the Division II National Tournament.
