FLORENCE, S.C. - The University of North Florida men's soccer team lost its second consecutive conference match Tuesday, falling to Francis Marion 3-2. The Ospreys now find themselves at 1-2-1 in conference play, and 3-6-1 overall.
The Patriots (5-6-1) got on the board first when Peter Nsubuga scored a little over a minute into the game, giving FMU an early 1-0 lead. Less than three minutes later, Terry Peak found Martin Pettersson in front of the net, for Pettersson's 10th goal of the season, tying the match at 1-1. Almost two minutes later, Nsubuga's shot on goal was rebounded and put in by Nick Boyd, giving Francis Marion a 2-1 advantage. Pettersson and Peak later assisted on Victor Duncan's third goal of the season, noting the game at 2-2. The Patriots struck in the 47th minute to score the game's final goal, completing the 3-2 victory.
The Ospreys registered 12 shots against FMU's nine, with UNF goalie Brad Jones making four saves. Pettersson has now scored a goal in nine of UNF's ten games.
North Florida looks to turn things around on Oct. 16 as they host conference opponent Clayton State at 7:00 p.m. at UNF soccer field.
