Ospreys fall to Spartans, 6-2

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - USC Upstate scored five first-half goals Saturday at UNF Soccer Field, three of them by Gary Lynch, enroute to a 6-2 victory against North Florida. The Spartans scored five unanswered goals to close out the game, as they increased thier conference record to 2-1.
UNF's Martin Pettersson opened the scoring with his ninth goal of the season, giving the Ospreys an early 1-0 lead. Lynch tied the score in the 25th minute, knocking in a corner kick. Facundo Videla gave North Florida a 2-1 advantage, scoring off of a pass from Patrick Gritz. From that point on, USC Upstate received two goals from both Lynch and Liam Slack, and one from Josh Richardson. Slack and Kim Krohn each added two assists in the win.
The Ospreys out-shot the Spartans 14-13, as UNF goalie Brad Jones made 6 saves.
North Florida's next two matches are conference games. First it will travel to Francis Marion on Oct. 12, and then will return home on Oct. 16 to host Clayton State.
