JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Martin Pettersson's first-half goal proved to be enough as the North Florida men's soccer team beat Belmont Abbey 1-0 Sunday at the Clayton State Kickoff Classic. UNF (1-1) placed 12 shots on goal, and held Belmont Abbey to just five, en route to their first victory of the season.
Pettersson broke the scoreless tie in the 39th minute, with Mark Sergio assisting on the goal, giving UNF all the support it would need. Goal keeper Scott Ballon made five saves in recording the shutout.
The Ospreys next take the field Sunday when they travel to take on Barton at 2 p.m.
