STATESBORO, Ga. - The University of North Florida swimming and diving team dropped its first meet of the season on Saturday after Georgia Southern narrowly edged the Lady Ospreys 127-114 in Statesboro, Ga.
UNF made its biggest showing in the diving events, but only took home three first place finishes in swimming events.
Newcomer Debbie Thornburry along with Amber Price led the Lady Osprey divers. Thornburry won the 1-meter competition, edging out Price, who won the 3-meter competition, finishing a spot in front of Thornburry.
Christie Britt was a winner in the 1000-freestyle, finishing with a time of 9:34.31. Allison Marshall finished first in the 200-butterfly (2:15.50) and Chelsea Lewis won the 100-freestyle in a time of :54.85.
UNF returns to action on Nov. 5, when it opens its home slate against Campbell.
