Late goals lift UNF to win

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A pair of late goals by the University of North Florida's Martin Pettersson and Martin Schuhte lifted the Ospreys to a 2-1 win over Atlantic Sun Conference-rival Campbell on Saturday at UNF Soccer Stadium.

Schuhte added the game winner with just over four minutes remaining in the match to give UNF (2-5-1, 2-0-0 A-Sun) its second-straight conference win. The goal was set up by a Mark Sergio run. The UNF sophomore was pulled down just inside the box earning Schuhte a chance at the penalty kick.

The goal was Schuhte's first of the 2005 campaign.

The Camels (5-3-1, 1-1-0 A-Sun), who tallied 13 shots, struck first when Archer Abblitt redirected a Willy Guadarrama rebound past a diving Michael Frost to give Campbell a 1-0 lead at the 41:12 mark of play. The goal was Abblitt's first of the season.

The Ospreys, who recorded 14 shots, managed to knot the match at a goal apiece late in the second half, when Pettersson converted a Sergio pass into a goal during the 78^th minute of play.

The goal was the first of the season for Pettersson. The assist was also the first of the season for Sergio.

"I thought the guys played a lot better in the second half," UNF head coach Ray Bunch said. "They were more direct when they were attacking Campbell. I was pleased with the way that they hung in there. I felt like we were able to wear Campbell down. We still made some mistakes, but our guys are learning."

Frost tallied five saves to improve to 2-5-1 on the season.

Johnson suffered the loss falling to 4-1-1. The Campbell goalkeeper tallied three saves.

UNF recorded five shots on goal to the Camels' six.

The Ospreys will be back in action on Thursday when they play host to Florida Atlantic in the last match of a three-match home stand. That match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the UNF Soccer Field.
