Devin Zvosec joined the UNF women's soccer staff as an assistant coach in March of 2017. He was promoted to recruiting coordinator for the Ospreys in April of 2018.
He is entering his fifth season at North Florida. Coach Zvosec has been instrumental in elevating the program, both on and off the field. Since joining the program in 2017, Zvosec has helped the Ospreys accumulate a record of 37-22-4, achieve their highest United Soccer Coaches South Region ranking, and reach the ASUN semifinals for the first time since 2012.
Before his arrival at North Florida, Zvosec served on staff at Ole Miss, Arkansas State, Georgia Southwestern State, Rogers State, and has a wealth of youth soccer coaching experience.
He is primarily responsible for the Osprey backline. During Zvosec's tenure, he has turned the Ospreys' defense into one of the stingiest defensive units in the ASUN. Osprey Women’s Soccer has put up some impressive numbers and seen a myriad of impressive individual accomplishments and honors over Zvosec’s four seasons in Jacksonville.
2020-2021 (Spring Championship Season Due to COVID)
The Ospreys concluded their historic season with a 10-2 overall record and 6-0 in the ASUN during Zvosec’s fourth season with UNF. This season marked their first-ever undefeated conference record, highest ASUN conference tournament seeding (#1 seed in the ASUN South Division) and they reached the ASUN semifinals for the first time since 2012. To cap off their historic season, the Ospreys finished with their highest regional ranking in program history, earning a 6th-place showing in the final United Soccer Coaches South Region poll.
Zvosec led a young Osprey defensive group through a strong season for a fourth consecutive year. The Osprey backline allowed the fewest amount of goals on the season in the ASUN Conference and finished the year with five shutouts and a program-best goal against average of .67.
The defense was led by ASUN Goalkeeper of the Year Mercedes Sapp and two All-Freshman selections in Zara Siassi and Haynes Grant. Sapp collected ten wins on the year, which included four shutouts. Siassi was the anchor of the defensive line, starting all 12 games on the season. Grant played in all 12 matches and was a unanimous selection for the All-Freshman Team.
The Osprey defense also collected multiple United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors. Goalkeeper Mercedes Sapp was named to the All-South Region second team along with teammate Zara Siassi. Andrea Sanchez, a senior center back, was named to the All-South Region Third Team.
Zvosec played a pivotal role in the player development of freshman Zara Siassi, who was rated the 29th best freshman in the country by TopDrawer Soccer, ASUN All-Freshman Haynes Grant, and United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Third Team Senior Andrea Sanchez.
2019-2020
The Ospreys recorded one of their best seasons in program history with an 11-6-2 overall record and 5-2-1 in the ASUN during Zvosec’s third season on the UNF sidelines. During, the season they recorded their longest unbeaten streak (6) in program history. The Ospreys concluded their
season with their highest conference finish since 2012. They improved their final RPI by 121 spots from the previous season and achieved their highest final RPI since 2012 (121st out of 333). They concluded their record-setting season on the field with success in the classroom. The Ospreys achieved their highest team GPA in program history.
Zvosec led the Osprey defensive group through another impressive season during his third year. The UNF defensive group finished the season with a program-best goal against mark. The defensive unit only gave up 21 goals in 19 games and concluded the season with a 1.11 goals-against average.
Zvosec was instrumental in the mentorship of First Team All-Conference and Third Team All-Region selection, central defender Hollyn Knight.
2018-2019
The Ospreys recorded a 7-8-1 overall record and 2-5-1 in the ASUN during Zvosec’s second season with UNF. The Ospreys recorded the program’s longest win streak of five consecutive wins. The Ospreys capped off the season with success in the classroom and achieved their highest team GPA in program history.
Zvosec led a defensive group through another stingy season. The defensive unit finished with the second-lowest amount of goals-against average in program history. Also, they tallied the most season shutouts (7) of the Division I era.
Zvosec played a pivotal role in the player development of freshman defender JJ Bryant, who was an Atlantic Sun All-Freshman honoree.
2017-2018
The Ospreys recorded a 9-6-1 overall record and 3-4 in the ASUN during Zvosec’s first season with UNF. The nine recorded wins were the most in a season since 2011, and it was the first winning season since 2006. Ospreys Women’s Soccer also recorded its highest RPI in program history (84th out of 333).
Zvosec led a young defensive unit that finished the season with the best goals-against average in the program's NCAA D1 era and decreased the number of goals surrendered by 16 from the previous season. North Florida finished the season allowing just 19 goals while producing seven shutouts. Keeper Rhiannon Conelley concluded the season with a 1.14 goals-against average, 0.750 save percentage, and tallied the most season shutouts (7) of the Division I era. Connelly also set the program NCAA D1 era record for most wins.
Zvosec played a significant role in helping the development of freshman defender Amber Jones who was an ASUN All-Freshman honoree.
Recruiting Coordinator
As the recruiting coordinator for the Ospreys, Zvosec has revamped the Ospreys recruiting strategies. His efforts have led to several signees ranked in TopDrawer Soccer’s regional rankings and several Power 5 transfers.
Personal
Zvosec played professionally with the St. Louis Lions of the USL Premier Development League and helped his team to a second-place finish in the Heartland Division in the USL-PDL. The Lions advanced to the semi-finals of the USL-PDL playoffs.
Zvosec graduated from Rogers State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Sport Management. He graduated from the University of North Florida with a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and a concentration in Athletic Administration. During his Master's Degree at the University of North Florida, he was inducted into the Prestigious Chi Sigma Mu Honor Society and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
He currently holds a United States Soccer Federation National D Coaching License, United Soccer Coaches National Diploma (Distinguished Pass), and United Soccer Coaches GK Level III Diploma. He is a candidate in the United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Diploma.
