Olmstead Named to Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award Watch List

College Baseball Hall of Fame Official Release
LUBBOCK, Texas – Senior Corbin Olmstead was listed on the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award Watch List as announced by the National College Baseball Hall of Fame on Tuesday. Olmstead is one of 24 players nationally up for the award given to the nation's top player both on the mound and at the plate.

The award is named for the former Washington State University standout who achieved success both as a first baseman and left-handed pitcher during the late 1980s and who was inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007. He went on to enjoy a 17-year major league career that included stops with the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Mets, Seattle Mariners, New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. The award will be presented as part of the Hall of Fame's Night of Champions celebration July 1-2 in Lubbock.

Olmstead became the first player in Atlantic Sun history last season to earn First Team All-Conference honors at two positions (UTL & RP). He was a unanimous All-American and First Team All-Region selection as a junior.

Coming into Wednesday, Olmstead is batting .336 with nine home runs and 41 RBIs. He is in the midst of 32-game reached base streak, the longest active streak in the A-Sun. Currently he ranks in the top five in the A-Sun in nearly every offensive category.
