MACON, Ga. - For the third-straight week, a North Florida student-athlete grabbed the Atlantic Sun Men's Basketball Player of the Week accolade as Dallas Moore earned his third of the season, while Lipscomb's Garrison Mathews picked up his first-ever A-Sun Newcomer of the Week, announced on Monday by the league office.
Dallas Moore earned his fifth career A-Sun Player of the Week honor after leading the Ospreys to a 2-0 week on the road against USC Upstate and NJIT. Moore became UNF's all-time leading scorer i the Division I era passing Parker Smith. The junior guard tallied 29 points in the 14-point win vs. the Highlanders after he delivered 16 points in a rematch of last year's A-Sun Championship Final vs. the Spartans.
"Dallas has done such a great job of maturing and developing into a very complete player," said UNF head coach Matthew Driscoll. "He has placed a premium value on distributing the ball to his teammates, while also running our offense efficiently. The improvement in his overall level of play has been a key factor in the improvement for the entire team. Our team's culture of complete unselfishness and humility allows for various individuals to earn recognition for their performances and effort. We are excited and thrilled for the recognition that our program continues to earn for the players commitment and dedication."
North Florida next returns to action Saturday when the Ospreys welcome rival FGCU to UNF Arena for the final game of the Atlantic Sun's first half.
