Hoff Named #ASunVB Player of the Week

Atlantic Sun Release

MACON, Ga. – After a career-best weekend at the Courtyard Mayo Classic, University of North Florida volleyball's Carina Hoff has been named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon. It is the first weekly conference honor of Hoff's career.

"Carina had a really good offensive weekend for us," said head coach Steve Loeswick. "Not only did she take a lot of swings, but she took some very important swings and was able to provide a lot of positive energy when she was on the court. It is great for her to be recognized for her excellent play this weekend."

Hoff, the Courtyard Mayo Classic MVP, tallied 42 kills, averaged 4.20 kills per set and hit .418 in order to help the Ospreys to a perfect 3-0 weekend. In one set against Bethune-Cookman, she went 6-for-9 with no errors and hit .667. Against Campbell, she set a career-high at the time for kills with 16. However, during the tournament's last match against Florida Atlantic, Hoff paced the Ospreys with a career-best 20 kills in order to help UNF to its first victory over Florida Atlantic since Aug. 28, 2009 at the UCF Fall Classic.

Hoff is the second Osprey this season to garner a weekly Atlantic Sun award.  Last week, Kimberly Ferguson was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week.

UNF returns to action on Tuesday with a mid-week match at Florida A&M. Match time is set for 6 p.m., at the Al Lawson Center.
