
Dagnija Medina Makes Latvian National Volleyball Team

RIGA, Latvia. – North Florida volleyball standout Dagnija Medina is competing with the Latvian women's national team this summer in their return to international play.
Medina, a rising senior at UNF from Riga, Latvia, finished her junior season with the Ospreys on a high note after helping the team to the inaugural Atlantic Sun Conference sand volleyball championship and earning A-Sun Pair of the Year honors at the event with her partner Anna Budinska.
The Latvian squad recently opened play in the CEV Volleyball European Championship with a match against Cyprus. Medina finished with six kills and two blocks helping her squad to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-13) victory in their debut contest at the Olympic Sports Centre in Riga.
The match marked the Latvian team's first major international campaign since the 2006-07 season. The two squads are scheduled to play a rematch on May 20 in Cyprus.
