JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The University of North Florida women's basketball head coach Mary Tappmeyer has announced the signing of Bre Crum to a National Letter of Intent.
“Bre is really athletic and we are excited that she is joining our Osprey family,” said Tappmeyer. “She is a dynamic point guard that will give us additional depth at that position next year.”
“It's a great fit. Bre's a great kid and has experienced great high school career,” said Sickles High School head coach Mark Key. “She's going to leave Sickles with the most wins. Bre's led to the Final Four and two Regional finals so far. She is looking forward to the next level and attending UNF next year.”
“I'm looking forward to becoming part of the UNF family and playing with the team,” said Crum. “What really attracted me to UNF was how easy it is to get around campus and the team was really cool. They made me feel like part of the team before I signed. The coaches are great and honest, too. I saw how the coaches and players look out for each other.”
As a junior, Crum helped Sickles High School its first-ever FHSAA Final Four in girls basketball. Crum averaged 20.9 points per game and 4.9 assists per game. She was named First-Team All-County by both Tampa Tribune and St. Petersburg Times and also earned a spot on the Western Conference Team.
Crum, the daughter of Pamela Mitchell and sister of Deairra, Diamond and Jayla, is the first signee of UNF's 2012 recruiting class.
