O’Neill Named Preseason All-Atlantic Sun

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Atlantic Sun Conference released its 2010 preseason men's soccer honors and the University of North Florida's Adam O'Neill was named to the team. In addition, the Ospreys were picked eighth in the preseason poll as voted on by the league's coaches.
Last season, O'Neill led the team in nearly every statistical category. The senior led the team with 13 points, of which nine points came in A-Sun play. He had a team-best six goals with four goals in conference, including a pair of match-winning goals. The forward led the team in shots and shots on goal. O'Neill scored the match-winning goals against Stetson and USC Upstate. In addition, he was third on the team in assists.
O'Neill was named Second Team All-Atlantic Sun Conference as a sophomore and a junior, as well as a member of the 2007 All-Freshman team.
In its first time being eligible, the University of North Florida men's soccer team advanced to the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament, hosting a first-round match. The Ospreys finished the season 4-13-1, but posted a 4-4-1 A-Sun record to finish the 2009 season in fourth place.
Stetson was voted the preseason favorite by the coaches, receiving six first place votes. Campbell was picked second place and claimed a pair of first place votes. Florida Gulf Coast and East Tennessee State were picked third and fourth, respectively, with each team earning a first place vote. Rounding out the top five was Mercer. Jacksonville and Lipscomb were picked sixth and seventh, respectively, followed by UNF. Belmont and USC Upstate finished out the 2010 preseason poll.
