JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida and Assistant Athletic Director / Director of Track & Field Mark VanAlstyne announced the hiring of David Frank and Rob Pasquariello to the track and field staff.
“I am really pumped about how our staff has come together this year,” VanAlstyne commented. “Our athletes are going to love working with Coach Pasquariello and Coach Frank and more importantly, I think they are going to excel under their enthusiastic leadership.”
Frank joins the University of North Florida cross country and track and field staff as an assistant distance coach and event operations manager in 2010. Frank comes to UNF from Bartram Trail High School where he built the girls' track and cross country programs from its inaugural year in 2000. He lead the Bears to back-to-back 4A state cross country titles (2007, 2008), as well as three regional championships, seven district championships and 10 conference titles. Under his 10 year direction, 19 different Bartram Trail athletes earned numerous All-State honors in the 800m, 1600m, 3200m, 4x800m relay, pole vault and cross country. In 2007 Frank was selected as the Florida Dairy Farmers Cross Country Coach of the Year.
“I am thrilled to have David join our staff here at UNF,” stated VanAlstyne. “It's been something that has been in the back of my mind for some time. He has tremendous experience at the high school level as well as his experience with hosting meets. He will make an immediate impact with the team as well as the production of our home events.”
Pasquariello joins the University of North Florida track and field team as an assistant coach with his primary coaching responsibilities being the throwers and horizontal jumpers. A coaching veteran, Pasquariello coached at the Division I level at Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J., from 2001-08. He spent the last three years with Rider as the head coach for men's and women's cross country and track and field. Pasquariello was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Coach of the Year in 20007 after his women's team captured the school's first ever indoor championship. That team also won the outdoor title garnering Pasquariello the Rider University Coach of the Year award for 2006-07.
“I am excited to have Rob joining our staff,” remarked VanAlstyne. “He brings a wealth of experience to our team including head coaching experience at Rider. I expect him to make an immediate impact with our horizontal jumpers and throwers and also in the area of recruiting, in particular in the Northeast.”
