
Trexler Jumps in NCAA Prelims

GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of North Florida track and field performer Elise Trexler recorded a high jump mark of 1.69m at the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships East Preliminary Round, but her 34th place finish would not be enough to land her a spot in next week's championships.
The top 48 men and women in the country competed in the first day of the preliminary round, divided between the East and West Regions, in hopes of qualifying in the top 12 of their event for the NCAA Championship final round at the University of Oregon in Eugene,Ore. on June 9-12.
Emily Breslin from Purdue jumped for a height of 1.81m which took the crown for the day's meet. Krystie Schade from Alabama earned 12th place and the final spot from the East Region's high jumpers to go to Eugene, Ore. for the finals.
Trexler came into Thursday ranked 22nd in the East Region with her height of 1.78m, topping the Atlantic Sun Conference and garnering an A-Sun First Team All-Conference honor. Trexler jumped her personal best height at the FSU Seminole Invite on April 9-10.
Sophomore Christina King who also qualified for the preliminary round will compete in the pole vault on Friday at 4 p.m. at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C.
King and Trexler were two of the 10 Atlantic Sun athletes to make it to the NCAA First Round competition.
