
UNF Women’s Tennis Moves up to 60th in ITA Rankings

SKILLMAN, N.J. – The University of North Florida women's tennis team moved up four spots in the latest ITA rankings to 60th while sophomore Aline Berkenbrock and senior Raquel Castro made a big jump in the doubles rankings from 90th to 66th.
UNF (20-2, 9-1 A-Sun) recently captured the 2010 Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Tennis Championship, defeating East Tennessee State, 4-1 in the finals. Three Ospreys won all-tournament honors including Berkenbrock, sophomore Danielle Day and freshman Melanie Aguirre who also was named the MVP of the tournament. Aguirre's win at No. 5 was the deciding match for the A-Sun title.
Berkenbrock, the 2010 Atlantic Sun Player of the Year, and Castro, a second team all-conference selection, went undefeated in Atlantic Sun play this season and were 18-3 overall in the No. 1 doubles. The pair defeated the 59th ranked pair of Carolina de los Santos and Valentina Galbarini from Stetson, 8-6 in the semifinal round of the A-Sun tournament. Berkenbrock and Castro followed that up with a, 9-7 win over ETSU's Yevgeniya Stupak and Kelly Holtzhausen in the finals.
