
Men’s Soccer Announces Signees

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's soccer team announced the signing of four student-athletes for the 2010 season. The signees include Austin Doyle (Fort Myers, Fla.), Josh Hudson (Altamonte Springs, Fla.), Ricky Lawrence (Prairieville, La.) and Tyler Willets (Gulf Breeze, Fla.).
“Athletically, this is the best class I have ever brought in,” head coach Ray Bunch remarked of his signing class. “They all bring something different to the table and should all challenge for starting positions this fall.”
Doyle joins the Ospreys after a successful career at Bishop Verot High School. He led the Vikings to the 2009-10 FHSAA 3A State Champion. Doyle scored 18 goals on the year with 28 assists for a total of 65 points. In 19 matches played, he recorded 13 matches with at least one goal and 13 matches with at least one assist. Doyle boasted four multi-goal matches with a hat trick against LaBelle High School on Jan. 12. He recorded nine multi-assists matches with five assists against DeSoto County, four versus Lely and three against North Port.
“Austin brings a lot of athleticism and is a very versatile player,” said Bunch. “He scored a lot of goals the last two years and we expect him to challenge for a starting spot immediately. He is a fine young man and excellent student and a credit to his parents.”
Hudson joins UNF after a very successful at Orangewood Christian School in Altamonte Springs, Fla. He was tabbed as a Seminole County All Star. In addition, Hudson was an All-Central Florida Boys Team selection in 2010. He led the team to Florida State Quarterfinals four consecutive years.
“Josh is a good kid,” Bunch stated. “He adds a lot of athleticism to our team and should compete for a starting spot right away. Josh has a lot of potential and should do some great things in his time here at UNF.”
Lawrence comes to Jacksonville from Prairieville, La. where he attended Dutchtown High School. He was named to the 2010 LHSSCA?Boys Soccer All State Team for Division I, as well as, the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Boys All-District Soccer Teams. Lawrence was tabbed Division I-5A All-District 6 and Most Valuable Player in 2010. He was the MVP of the 2010 All-Metro Boys Soccer Team. Lawrence scored 44 goals and tallied 11 assists in 2009-10. For his career, Lawrence scored 71 goals, while adding 32 assists.
“Ricky is incredibly fast and brings tremendous speed to our team,” commented Bunch. “He has potential to score many goals in his career at UNF. He is a tremendous student-athlete and a credit to his parents.”
Willets joins the North Florida men's soccer team after being the varsity goalkeeper for the past three years at Gulf Breeze High School in Gulf Breeze, Fla. He was a member of the 2010 Pensacola Area All-Star Game. The Gulf Breeze Dolphin soccer team finished district play unbeaten and unscored upon. Off the field, Willets is an exceptional student, boasting a 4.2 grade point average.
“Tyler is a very accomplished goalkeeper,” Bunch said. “He has all the tools to play at the Division I level. I expect him to challenge immediately for a starting position.”
