Ospreys Finish Up FSU Relays

JACKSONVLLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida's sophomore James Post and senior Elise Trexler continue to lead the Atlantic Sun Conference in their respective events after improving their marks on Saturday at the Florida State Relays in Tallahassee, Fla.
In field events, Trexler led the team with a fourth place finish in the high jump. Her height of 1.70-meters tops her season best and sits first in the conference.
Post ran a season best 1:52.72 in the 800m beating his original time of 1:54.04. Post receiving a fourth place finish in the 800m took sixth in the 5000m race with a time of 15:02.07 (second best time in the conference). Sammy Palmer ran a season best time (15:08.86), crossing the line eighth in the 5000m.
In the shot put, freshman Ashley Gonzalez finished eighth and recorded the fourth best distance in the conference (12.19). Finishing in ninth, Kayla Mobley threw the shot put 12.10m.
Senior Ashton McGuire threw the javelin 38.97m for a sixth place finish. McGuire still leads the conference with her throw of 39.60m that came at the UNF Spring Break Invitational. Mobley finished in eighth place with a season best 36.76m.
Freshman Jennifer Smyth scored a seventh place finish in the long jump (5.58m). Her distance put her second in the conference behind Kennesaw State's Jill Arthur, who holds the top jump (5.64m).
In men's field events, junior Noah Thompson tied for sixth in the pole vault with a season best vault of 4.16m.
On the track, sophomore Kayla Conrad finished with a time of 4:48.98 in the 1500m for the fourth highest mark in the A-Sun. She finished the race in 14th place. Conrad also moved into third-place in the conference with her 400m time of 58.57.
Freshman Meggie Emons had a good showing in the 5000m (18:13.89). Emons finshed the race in 13th place and is second in the conference with her time.
On the men's side, the 4x400m relay team made up of freshman Nick Squillace, freshman Justin Mims, freshman Aaron Tillman and freshman Ashdon Mills was a second off of their season best (3:20.20), finishing ninth in 3:21.90.
The Ospreys will be back in action on Friday, April 2. UNF will be split into two squads competing in the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. and the Spike Classic in Daytona Beach, Fla.
