UNF Finishes Second Out Of 15 Teams At Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational

Gibb, competing as an individual, tied for first before losing in one-hole playoff
The Ospreys fell just short of capturing the title, falling by one stroke to
Winds and rain played havoc on most of the teams during the final round as
UNF senior Jordan Gibb, who was competing as an individual, finished tied for first with two other golfers before losing in a one-hole playoff. Gibb shot a final round 71 and finished at 5-under, 211 (70-70-71). Jonathan Randolph of Ole Miss birdied the first playoff hole for the victory over Gibb and
“Today was a little disappointing for the guys,” said UNF head coach Scott Schroeder. “We played good for nine holes and then struggled down the stretch. We will learn from the day and continue to work hard. But finishing second in this field is really good. Anytime you beat those schools you have to be happy. Even though we didn't win, it shows our hard work and good attitudes are starting to pay dividends with good golf.”
Leading the way for UNF was freshman Kevin Phelan and senior J.C. Horne as the pair finished tied for fourth with 4-under 212's. Horne shot 69-69-74 and Phelan 70-66-76.
Sophomore Joe Byun ended tied for 41st at 5-over (71-73-77=221), junior Chris Kennedy tied for 56th at 9-over (75-71-79=225) and sophomore Kevin Aylwin tied for 67th at 11-over (79-76-72=227).
In addition to North Florida and the host school, Georgia Southern, the 15-team field also includes
UNF is nationally ranked in both national rankings, sitting 23rd in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings and 28th in the Golfstat.com index. Sophomore Sean Dale leads
The Ospreys finished ahead of six teams who were ranked ahead of them in the Golfstat.com national rankings and ahead of two in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.
