Aguirre and Krook Win Doubles; Aguirre also Takes Singles Flight

Aguirre and Krook teamed up to defeat No. 75 South Florida's tandem of Jessica Zok and Natalia Guevara, 8-4 in the finals.
In the singles flight finals, Aguirre played a tough three-set match with No. 19 Arkansas' Fernanda Perrotta, picking up the 6-1, 6-7 (5), 10-7 win.
"This weekend we showed a great level of tennis," said head coach Rodrigo Puebla. "We competed against top programs in the nation and we had some very good wins. Today we came out with a great intensity and focus on the court. I believe if we play at this level throughout the season we can definitely accomplish our goals that we set at the beginning of the season.
I also want to congratulate Mel Aguirre on a successful weekend by winning her singles and her doubles with partner Vicky Krook. I know Mel was excited to compete at this level and she showed that she will be great asset to our line up."
In the doubles flight one, senior Raquel Castro and sophomore Aline Berkenbrock paired up to win third places after defeating Purdue's Michelle Sammons and Jennifer Rabot. The Boilermakers finished the 2009 season with a final ITA ranking of 68.

In other matches sophomore transfer Danielle Day teamed up with Holton to pick up fifth place in the flight two doubles. The pair downed FGCU's Priscilla Villemond and Jessica Sweeting, 8-1.
Day also picked up a fifth place finish in her singles flight with a tough three set, 6-1, 3-6, 10-5 match over former Missouri's Andrea Lewis. The Tigers finished the season No. 75 in the final ITA standings.
Berkenbrock picked up a fifth place finish in singles flight two, defeating Purdue's Jennifer Rabot, 6-1, 6-3.
