The proceeds raised by the UNF baseball team will go to The Donna Foundation for breast cancer research
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida baseball team will once again be flexing for funds in the 14th Annual Flex Off in an effort to raise money for The Donna Foundation for breast cancer research. The event is Friday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. at UNF Arena.
Members of the 2010 baseball team will participate in a body building competition to show off their efforts in the weight room and to benefit The Donna Foundation.
“Our baseball program has always been involved with lifting weights, getting our guys bigger, stronger and faster” head coach Dusty Rhodes said. “We wanted to try to get these guys the opportunity to show just how hard they've worked. The objective is to get them in better shape and take the opportunity to raise money for The Donna Foundation. It has worked out really well for us. It is a good time, people enjoy it and we help a great cause in the process.”
There will be a suggested $5 donation for t-shirts and all of the proceeds will go to The Donna Foundation. The Donna Foundation was founded by Donna Deegan – a local celebrity, news anchor and a breast cancer survivor. The Foundation raises money to be used exclusively for First Coast women living with breast cancer. For more information on The Donna Foundation, please click here.
Pink t-shirts that read “UNF Baseball” on the front and “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” on the back will be available while supplies last. Players on the team will also wear the shirt to promote cancer awareness. In addition, UNF will also be giving away a free race spot for the “26.2 with Donna” marathon, as well as, a copy of Deegan's book “Through Rose Colored Glasses.”
The UNF Baseball Flex Off will be shown live on ASun.TV.
