JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida head volleyball coach Kevin Campbell announced today the signing of setter Britt Claessens.
Claessens, a 5-11 setter from Lake Mary, Fla., comes to UNF after setting the single-season setting record at Lake Mary High School, having tallied 806 assists during her final year. She posted 62 kills, 39 aces, 21 blocks and 133 digs on the season.
On Sept. 9 she was named the AVCA/Max Preps Florida Volleyball Player of the Week after tallying 92 assists, averaging 9.2 assists per set over 10 sets. Claessens was also named the ESPN RISE Regional Athlete of the Week on Oct. 29 for the Southeast Girls region. She earned the honor after posting 40 assists against Lyman en route to breaking the school assist record.
“We are excited to have Britt join the UNF volleyball program,” said Campbell. “Her setting experience will help to propel us to a higher level on the offensive side. She will be able to help advance our team to another level. She is a great person, great student, a great leader and a great volleyball player. We get the whole package with Britt and we are looking forward to her becoming an Osprey.”
