JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida softball team has taken time out of their fall conditioning over the past couple months to help the community of Jacksonville.

While bringing in three-times the attention it had in its last fundraiser, the aids walk raised $4,000 and donated $3,000 to the Northeast Florida World Aids Week Committee made possible by community sponsors and community members who chose to walk and promote HIV/Aids awareness.
Avery Garner an employer of Heartland Hospice, who was one of the main organizers of this soon to be annual event, was delighted to of had UNF and its student-athletes show such great interest in supporting their mission to raise money for the Worlds Aids Week Committee.
On Sunday, Nov. 15, UNF's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) which included members of the softball team came together to help support the Ronald McDonald House of Jacksonville by a fundraising car wash in front of the O'Charley's restaraunt on Atlantic Boulevard.
