Follow the Lady Ospreys this week at their tournament at Lehigh
For those of you expecting to read the writings of Adam Jonson in this space, he will not be here this week. Instead, I will be taking his place. My name is Shawn LaFata and I traveled with women's basketball the last three years and will be reprising my role for this trip. Some of you who have been around the program have had to put up with my voice calling the women's games on the road the last few years. The good news about that is you can put a voice to the blog now!
Â
This season I have been traveling with the men, but Adam is with the men this week. It's a long and complicated story.
Â
Anyway, for those who haven't had the pleasure of reading any of my blogs this year, this is pretty much a space for me to make as many sarcastic comments as possible and keep everyone updated about the behind the scenes action of the team's road trip to the Keystone State. That's Pennsylvania for those who aren't sure.

Sunday
I'm pretty sure today is Sunday because the NFL has been on all day. The Jags are tearing it up once again! Yeah right. Here lately I have just been living by the date because everything gets confusing with the Christmas holiday and days of the week, etc. I do know it is Dec. 28.
Â
The day began when we all met at UNF. Nobody looked very happy to be there to be honest. We didn't even leave that early. I do have good news for those of you that have followed my other blogs this year. Cinn-a-Bon was open at the Jacksonville airport this morning, so that was a good start.
Â
With all of the women on the team being moody I made sure to stick with the coaches. They were in a good mood this morning.
Â
That's another thing I have to readjust to as well, just traveling with the women again. I was with them the last three years, so you would think I would be used to hearing the conversations about babies and problems with undergarments (I'm not sure I'm allowed to be any more graphic than that in my blog). Anyway, definitely a change from the men.
Â
The flight to Atlanta was pretty smooth. Aaron Stewart and I got a break when it was only the two of us in a three-person row. Therefore we could spread out, although some little kid was kicking the back of Aaron's seat. Oh wait, that was coach Tappmeyer.
Â
When we got to Atlanta, coach Williams and I ran races against each other on the moving walkway. I even ran backwards for a while. I wish there were more moving sidewalks in life. That would make it more interesting.
Â
The flight from Atlanta to Bethlehem, Pa., was bumpy to say the least. It was a pretty small plane and most of the southeast was socked in with turbulence clouds. I know that's not an official term but that's what I'm going with. To give you an idea of how small our plane was, the flight attendant actually took a vote on whether we wanted to leave the gate or wait until the catering service came by so we could have drinks and our three peanuts on the flight up. One of the girls on the team voted to wait. We left her behind. Maybe that's why Rachelle Rasley had her own seat.
Â
When we landed on the ground, the flight attendant/comedian told us we could turn our cell phones owhn. I assume he meant on. He actually sounded like the guy with the mustache on Family Guy.
Â
Thanks to our former trainer Jim Scholler and his decision to take a job with the Memphis Grizzlies I got a row to myself. I'm a little scared though, two big breaks on the first two flights. I just hope this hot streak keeps up on the way home!
Â
Pennsylvania is not very cold right now. It's in the high 50s and supposed to be a little warmer tomorrow. There is, however, still a little bit of snow on the ground. It's not the nice white snow either, it's a little black and muddy and not worth picking up to throw at anyone.
Â
Currently we are at practice at Lehigh. The girls have had two pretty good days of practice. I have no doubt in my mind they will be ready tomorrow night. It's time for this team to get a win!
