Happy Halloween!
Friday, Oct. 31, 2008
Eric Scott (Athletics Media Relations)
Even with the tremendous amount of hard work that comes along with being in athletics media relations, there is still a lot of fun involved – especially with our office.
One of those times was today (Halloween for those of you who weren't paying attention). Beginning last year, we dress up in funny costumes to work on Halloween. This year, we decided to wear Canadian Tuxedos. If you don't know what that is, you're in for a treat. Two words: all denim.
It was a little disappointing though because Shawn LaFata, the assistant athletic director for media relations, didn't want to wear his tuxedo because he had a commitment prior to work and didn't want to wear it out in public. And Trevor Stanton, the assistant director of development, is usually our partner in crime on everything, but today he stood us up.
So that left myself and the other assistant director of media relations, Adam Jonson, to carry the torch. And I think it's safe to say, we lit it up. Adam came in styling with medium blue jeans and shirt, and to top it off, he had a dark blue denim jacket.
I decided to go cowboy style with light blue jeans and shirt, along with a belt buckle, cowboy hat and aviator sunglasses. We got some pretty good reactions around the office, except from the women's basketball staff. They said we looked like we were from a certain controversial movie about cowboys – I'll just leave it at that.
So I guess the moral of the story is, no matter how busy you are, it's always important to take a moment to laugh at yourself and have fun. It certainly makes life that much more enjoyable.
From myself and UNF Athletics, have a happy and safe Halloween – eh?
