Jackie Card (UNF Velocity)

Hi Osprey Fans! My name is Jackie Card, and I am a senior and captain for the UNF Velocity Spirit Team.
Having been involved with UNF Athletics my entire college career, I am pleased to share with you the hard work and dedication of the first combined cheer and dance team at UNF. We are already hard at work showing our support off the court before basketball season.
While our main responsibility is to attend and perform at all home basketball games, we are privileged and excited to support both UNF and the Jacksonville community through various appearances off campus.
Most recently, we performed at a pep rally and Buddy Walk Celebration for the Down Syndrome Association of Jacksonville. The pep rally, held on Sept. 5, was a very special opportunity for some of us to pump up the Buddy Walk participants and their families.
The Buddy Walk Celebration was held on Oct. 18, at the Jacksonville Beach Seawalk Pavilion. In addition to performing sideline routines before and after the walk, we shared many smiles and laughs with the participants.
The event was also another great opportunity for us to perform with the UNF Drumline. While at the Buddy Walk, we had several requests for pictures, including four men who rode their bikes to Jacksonville from San Diego, Calif., over a 40-day period.
Three of our team members – freshman Tracie Smith, sophomore Ashley Wages and I – also performed at an event for American Express on Oct. 11. We performed with our coach, Missy Cole, and members of her dance group, Focus. The night was Caribbean-themed and full of fun! After doing a short routine, we were all able to dance and interact with guests and employees to bring energy and life to the party.
With basketball season right around the corner, we really hope to see all of you at games and events. Be sure to come out and join us in supporting the talented men and women on the basketball teams. And if you see us around campus, feel free to stop and say hi – we would love to get to know you better!
