Rachel McFarlane joined the North Florida Cross Country/Track & Field staff as an assistant coach in July 2016.
McFarlane came to UNF following a two-year stint as an assistant cross country/track & field coach at Lansing Community College in Lansing, Mich., Â where she helped lead the women's program to a National Championship in 2015. She began her coaching career with a three-year assistant coaching tenure at Lansing Catholic High School, where she also helped the boy's team to a state championship title in 2015.
A letterwinning cross country/track & field athlete at Michigan State, McFarlane was part of back-to-back Big 10 Championship teams. During her senior season, she earned second-team All-Big 10 honors and received the conference's Sportsmanship award in cross country. In addition, McFarlane garnered second-team All-Big 10 accolades for the Indoor DMR and was an NCAA East Preliminary qualifier outdoors in the 5,000m.
A member of the MSU school record holding squads in both the DMR (Indoor) and 4xMile relay (Outdoor), McFarlane posted personal record times of: Mile- 4:50 3k- 9:43, 5k- 16:29, 6k-20:48 while in college.
McFarlane graduated from Michigan State in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in Kinesology.
A native of Livonia, Mich, McFarlane was a standout prep runner finishing all-state honors for three consecutive years and guided her team to a runner-up finish at the state championship.
McFarlane also holds her level 1 USATF Coach Certification.
