Tyler Gulliksen has been introduced as a second Assistant Coach for the North Florida men's golf program during the 2023-24 season.
Gulliksen works primarily with the men's golf team joining Assistant Coach Michael Mattiace, who is a part of both the men's and women's programs. He hopes to bring his experiences to North Florida and help the Osprey student-athletes achieve success in golf, the classroom and life after they graduate from UNF.
In his first two seasons assisting the men's golf team, he has helped develop four All-ASUN honorees, two ASUN All-Freshmen selections and the ASUN Men's Golfer of the Year in 2024. Over the past two seasons, the Ospreys have reeled in a total of 10 ASUN Men's Golfer of the Week honors, including eight during his first season on staff.
The Ormond Beach, Fla., native, was most recently a volunteer assistant golf coach at the University of San Diego for three years under former PGA Tour winner and Ryder Cup Team Member, Chris Riley. Gulliksen is also an elite Mid-Amateur player and has won numerous state and national level amateur events.
His tournament achievements are highlighted by two tournament championships, including breaking the scoring record of 199 and the course record of 63 at the 2019 Kenridge Invitational. He also was the 2024 FSGA Four-Ball champion, the 2023 & '24 FSGA Two-Man Shootout champion and the 2022 & '23 FSGA Foursomes champion.
Gulliksen's playing resume doesn't stop there, as he also was the runner-up at the 107th FSGA Amateur Championship, a semifinalist at the 43rd FSGA Mid-Amateur Championship, a two-time quarterfinalist at the Virginia State Amateur and has played in four USGA events. His team selections include the 2024 Florida Cup team member, a three-time Virginia State team member and a three-time Southern California Century Cup team member.
Gulliksen graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2010 from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. During his time in the naval service, he also earned his master’s degree from the University of San Diego.
He spent nearly 13 years in the Naval Special Operations Community as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Officer, in which he earned the rank of Lieutenant Commander. During his naval career, he completed multiple deployments to the Middle East and North Africa, combating Violent Extremist Organizations and supporting various campaigns on the U.S. Global War on Terrorism. He completed three tours in San Diego, one in Virginia Beach and one in the National Capitol Region.
Gulliksen is married to his wife, Andrea, who retired from the United States Marines Corps after a 25-year career.
