Bob Marlin was named an assistant coach for North Florida men’s basketball on Aug. 18, 2025.
Marlin has amassed 494 Division I wins and coached 823 Division I games in his career.
Marlin joined North Florida after he led Louisiana to a 269-198 record in 15 seasons from 2010-25. He is the winningest coach in Sun Belt Conference history with 151 wins. Marlin totaled five postseason appearances, including 2014 and 2023 NCAA Tournament berths.
With Marlin at the helm, Louisiana won three Sun Belt Conference titles. The 2018 Sun Belt Coach of the Year, Marlin led Louisiana to its two winningest seasons in program history, including a program-record 27 wins in 2017-18. Marlin eclipsed the 20-win mark five times at Louisiana, posting a 20-win average from 2013-23.
Prior to Louisiana, Marlin became the winningest coach in Sam Houston State program history. Marlin compiled a 225-131 record that included winning records in 10 of his 12 seasons. The winningest coach in the Southland Conference during his tenure, Marlin won 20 or more games six times at Sam Houston State. Marlin led Sam Houston State to three Southland Regular Season and two Southland Tournament titles, including appearances to the 2003 and 2010 NCAA Tournament. He was named the Southland Conference Coach of the Year three times and was the Southland Coach of the Decade honoree.
Before Sam Houston State, Marlin led Pensacola Junior College to a 123-35 record in five seasons. Marlin guided Pensacola to a 1993 NJCAA National Championship and was named 1993 NJCAA National Coach of the Year. He was honored as the 1993 NABC, Basketball Times, Basketball Weekly Coach of the Year and Region 8 Coach of the Year. Marlin was inducted into the Florida Junior College Hall of Fame in 2007 and the inaugural PSC Hall of Fame in 2019.
Marlin also served on coaching staffs at Alabama, Marshall, Houston Baptist and Northeast Louisiana.
