Sports Medicine (Visiting Team Information)
The University of North Florida Sports Medicine Staff will be available to assist in providing the best possible care to student athletes from visiting teams. In preparation for your upcoming trip to UNF, the following information may be of some need to you.
Â
Athletic Training Services
The athletic training facilities will be open approximately two hours prior to contest/game time and will remain open for approximately 45 minutes after the contest/game. Each athletic training facility offers ice, hot packs, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and warm and cold whirlpools.
A University of North Florida certified athletic trainer will be on-site for all home athletic competitions. A physician will be in attendance for men's and women's basketball, and men's and women's soccer games. A physician will be on call for all other events.
Water, cups, ice bags, and biohazard supplies will be provided on your sideline/bench for each contest/game. Emergency supplies, including a gator/golf cart, an AED, oxygen, crutches, splints, spine board, cervical collars, etc. will also be available should the need arise.
Â
Teams Traveling Without a Certified Athletic Trainer
If your team is traveling without a certified athletic trainer, prior notification is appreciated. A written prescription/letter from a physician or certified athletic trainer is required for ultrasound and electrical stimulation treatments to be performed on your student athletes. In addition, University of North Florida athletic training staff members will be happy to assist your team with taping and wrapping needs provided that teams provide their own supplies. Please contact any member of the Athletic Sports Medicine staff with any questions or to make special arrangements.
